Hobart Mountain Bike Trails
Hobart has a great variety of mountain bike trails that all levels of ability can enjoy.
The most popular and expansive trail networks around the city are:
- Mt Wellington
- South Hobart
- Meehan Mountain Bike Park
- Glenorchy Mountain Bike Park
There are smaller trail networks to explore in the Greater Hobart Region, these include:
- Kingborough Bike Park, Geilston Bay, Conningham, Waverley Park, and Sandford.
Mt Wellington Bike Tours & Shuttles
We run a minibus shuttle service taking riders and their bikes up to the trails on Mt Wellington.
And if you're looking for a hire bike and a recommended ride, one of our MTB tours will get you rolling.
Our South Hobart Office
Find us in South Hobart, this suburb is the main hub for the Mt Wellington trail network.
We help thousands of riders every year access and enjoy the great trails on kunanyi / Mt Wellington.
Planning A Ride - Trail Navigation & Maps
Our preferred way to research and navigate Hobart's trails is using an online trail map on a mobile phone or home computer.
There are a few online trail map options. Out favourite is a website called Trailforks (www.trailforks.com).
Trailforks is accessible through a web browser or as an app for mobile devices. There is a free and paid version of the app.
The online map has real-time GPS tracking which provides an exact (almost) location on the trails.
Another excellent navigation app is AllTrails.
Trail Signs
Hobart City Council manages many kilometres of MTB trails. These sanctioned MTB trails have trail signs at the start of the trail.
There are also many unsanctioned trails in the Hobart network, and the majority have no signage. Navigation apps are really helpful for planning a route on unsigned trails.
Ian Wilson2 March 2025 Excellent day out, very good advice about local routes and timing. Highly recommended. Rory Nestor1 March 2025 Awesome experience 10/10 would recommend. Did the pipeline track which was perfect for 3 beginners. Glad we got the shuttle up as its a steep climb. Stopped off at Fern Tree Tav and ended in the Cascade brewery. Top day out. Zoe and the crew are legends! Greg Andrews1 March 2025 Very personal service, enabled an amazing day riding the North/South. Hired bikes and got a ride to the top of the track. Would do it again next week. Mark Flynn28 February 2025 Had a great time with Phil and the crew. Knowledgeable and super patient on the different down hill surfaces - made the trip a breeze. Loved the cloudy ultra cold Mt Wellington downhill run before the even better fern-covered temperate rain forest main part of the trip. His knowledge of Mount Wellington and various bike trails was exceptional. He reiterated the safety of mountain bilking in trying conditions ( wet cold & overcast But fantastic).
